Oops!

So, i said to myself I would make a concerted effort to update this blog with work/ideas/news etc...and I haven't! Not much has been happening, working on some new pieces for Tent London, which starts in September. I really need to get a wiggle on and complete them! I bought some new elastics recently, there was so much to choose from...I hope I picked the right ones! These pieces will be part of the previous project I did, but i'm going to layer up the wood stain and think more about colour choices. Photos to come once they've been exhibited at Tent!

So this is my blog! And here are two photos of some of my work! I've just finished my degree at Buckinghamshire New University where I studied BA (Hons) Textiles and Surface Design, and the past year I've spent researching how people interact on social networking sites such as Facebook. From my research I created visual data which I then applied to surfaces, such as wood that can be seen here.

Using elastic I stitched my data. I then started stretching, knotting and over laying the elastic to show different connections that have been made by me via a Facebook page that I created
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Its-a-small-world-after-all/261976740499429. The idea of the page was to connect with as many people over 6 days. After making visual data from these connections, I settled on using the geographically correct data that I had made. This means that if you placed a map of the UK over a piece of my work, the holes in the wood are geographically correct and will show you what town/city I connected to.
